A crazy Fan oven problem

I'm stumped by this and wonder if anyone can suggest what might be wrong???
My oven comes on fine, it heats up no problem, but after about half an hour it just shuts itself off, and will not come back on until I leave it a while...
It's not anything to do with the timer, as I've reset all that. What's flummoxing me is that it works just fine, there's no problem with the fan or anything.
If it wasn't coming on at all I'd be less inclined to try and diagnos the problem myself, but it just doesn't seem to make sense and I'm hoping that it's nothing to tricky to fix...
Thanks for your time all...

This is only a wild guess, nothing more. You say you have to leave it a while, which suggests something in the works may be waiting for the oven to cool down a bit. You don't say how old your oven is, but maybe it has some over-temperature safety device in it that thinks the oven is getting too hot, and just shuts it down? This would be typical of over-temperature mechanisms in all manner of things ... shuts the works down till things cool down again. If it is this, then of course there might be the possibility your oven really is getting too hot for some reason?
Has anyone done anything to the oven lately, or has it started doing this all on its own?Favours are returned ... Trust is earned

Thnaks for your reply,
The oven just started doing this two nights ago, it's not been tampered with in any way. Your theory makes sense, though I don't understand how it would happily cook away at the same temperature for half an hour before saying 'oh wait a minute, I'm too hot'...
It's maybe only three years old and the manual isn't that comprehensive as to tell me where a temperature regulator may be located...
It really is a puzzle.0 -
on an older oven i would say the thermostat or the thermocouple was sticking.
but on newer ovens i think its poss all done by a chip the PCB?
try the technical dept at the makers website. email or phone them.Get some gorm.0 -

Another thought FEL: is it possible that when cleaning the oven you've accidentally knocked a heat sensor or something? They do sometimes protrude into the oven cavity and can get knocked. Or alternatively is there one hidden in an obscure corner that's hard to clean and got a bit caked? Have a look in there with a torch - but be sure to turn off at the cooker main first.Favours are returned ... Trust is earned
