I thought the old PC was dead forever, I have been researching, asking questions on here, and found which one I was going to get for my PC mad son. Yet this morning, he suggested plugging it back in, to see if it would work, and it did
So before I go spending my few pennies on a new one, because Im sure it will do what it did again, I think I should find out why its doing it.
The problem is when you turn it on, and it got progressivley worse, it comes up with the Sony logo, its a Vaio, then just stays like that, you can hear it booting up in the background, but it wont show anything other than the Sony logo. Other times it works fine, as it is right now.
What would do this, I am just thinking if its the graphics card, it would just never show any graphics, not work sometimes
It would be great if I could resolve this without buying a new one, so any more help, everyone has been so helpful already, would be very gratefully recieved:rotfl:

You could try reseating the ram, and hard disk., and maybe running chkdsk on the disk
start, run, cmd
chkdsk c: /F
Y
rebootEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
You might also want to try replacing the motherboard battery; If it's a reasonably modern PC this is probably a CR2025 which you can pick up for a couple of quid in Boots, Wilko's, Maplins etc.
Au Res.,
