I want to sell a piece of software that is fantastic for dyslexics. It helps formulate ideas by way of brainstorming and then puts the ideas into order.
I want to sell it as BIN for £12.99.
listed in
186 --> Computing > Software > Educational & Reference > Other Educational & Reference
The listing fee is a whopping 95p. With no extras !!
Can I make this cheaper by changing the catagory or changing some words in the title?
TIA

dont think there is anything you can do to reduce.
ebay just goes on the fees for listing the item. and if you only have one category then it only costs more to add more categories
welcome to ebays ridiculous rates
hope this isnt a plug for your item btw lol0 -

You will get more interest if you list it as a NIB.0 -
computers & networking / software / kids software / thinking and problem solving
Also you have to take paypal only
payments in this section.
listing fee for £12.99 is 35p

Oooh now there's a thought
I have noticed that some computer games can be listed for 5p. I was wondering if it was the catagory you chose or whether they picked up on some of the words in the title??
If that was the case maybe I could change the catagory to something similar but cheaper or I could change the title
I tried listing this just after Christmas on a 10p listing day but it obviously didn't qualify as it was still 95p.
I know it's not a huge amount of money but it all adds up.
TIA

Back on topic...
I'm assuming you are using a subtitle upgrade to get the fee up to 95p The insertion fee is 35p, BIN Fee 10p, Gallery 15p and subtitle a further 35p.
In my opinion, it's not worth the 35p subtitle as is not included in any keyword searches, so is better suited to a highly competitive market to make your listing stand out from hundreds of similar items.
The other option I would suggest is to use a multiple item BIN to dilute the insertion fee cost across a few sales rather than 1. To list a BIN with 1 available costs 60p - currently 95p for you, but to list the same item with a quantity of 5 would cost £1.80 (or £2.15 with subtitle) which equates to 36p per item, or 43p with subtitle.
To maximise the savings on this, look at your current level of sales to decide how many to offer per listing - it may work out better to offer 3 that all sell, than offer 6 when only 4 will sell.
All the ebay fees are laid out on this page - http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html - with multiple BIN listings, the inserton fee is based on the combined value of all the items offered- 5x £12.99 = £64.95, therefore insertion fee is £1.50, and BIN fee is 25p. Also look at the pricing breaks - combined value of £29.99 - fee is 75p, combined value of £30 and the fee is £1.50.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

O.P.I want to sell a piece of software that is fantastic for dyslexics.
a piece of software to me means 1...why would they want to list multiple sale if they only have 1....my mind boggles.

If it is only one item, then it would be better listed on a 10 day auction as its rarity will drive the price up. If thats the case, get it listed tomorrow for 1/2 price.
I had assumed by the mention of attempting to list previously on a 10p day indicated that the OP was selling copies of their own programme.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Thanks for the time and effort you have put into your posts.
I do only have one copy to sell and it is a manufactured one (definately not made by me)
I have no extras at all. No subtitle , no gallery, no highlight .... just a listing.
I can't even see a 95p fee on the Ebay fees that you kindly gave the link for.
I am totally baffled.
Maybe I will have to start the listing from scratch as I may have selected an option (ie multiple listing for example) that I just can't see. I am completely at a loss as to why it is this price
Thanks for your kind replies
