Secret Wedding - low key gift ideas needed

Hiya,
My friend is having a secret wedding in two weeks time. All very low key only the couple and myself.
I'm really stuck for a suitable gift. There are no outfits, hair do's ect and the bride is pregnant (so alcohol is out!)
Do any of you, lovely creative people, have an idea for a present???
It's prob slightly off topic but i can't think of anything!!

  • Depends on how low key is low key. You say no hair dos etc but maybe you could get them a small button hole each or a small posy for the bride - you'll have to judge whether this would be right or not. When the day actually arrives, they may feel that they wish they'd done a little something special. Maybe a small wedding cake - something with white icing and flowers on top. This is an individual cake at Waitrose brought in sixes but the simple look is what I was thinking. (you need to type rosebud cake in the search boxes - the link doesn't take you straight to the picture)

Are you going out for a meal after the ceremony, if not, perhaps you could arrange something - a hamper for a picnic or cook for them yourself or just a pub meal for 2?

Could you take some pictures and make up a little informal wedding album or montage?

Depending on how iminent baby is, a book of promises for when the baby arrives - (baby sitting, cooking meal etc)

If alcohol is a definite no-no then you could always resort to chocolates.

  • Nothing horrid about the wedding margaretclare. Niether have family in the country and they just wanted to do things their way - seems fair enough to me.

full time mum - fab ideas, have just booked a meal for us afterwards. Nipping out to marks later to get a little cake. You've started me off on a hamper idea (will put the cake in it, and chocs).

This site never ceases to amaze me with the time people take to help each other.

How about a bottle of elderflower cordial to go in the hamper? If you add a bottle of sparkling water too, you've got non-alcoholic fizz!

Also, maybe some nice mum-to-be body lotion for a massage...or how about an IOU for a home-cooked meal when the new mum & baby come home?
  • floss2 -
i like the drink idea, i had been looking at non-alcoholic champagne but i wasn't sure if they would taste ok.
The hamper list is building nicely.
    thanks again.x

  • Depending on how much you want to spend what about booking them a romantic first night hotel room? If they don't already have this covered themselves.

  • How about a simple gift of some non alcoholic fizz and some champagne flutes... fill the champagne flutes with some little heart choccies, or love hearts in a cello bag and tie with curling ribbon.. display in a seagrass basket.

How about making a CD up of the couples favourite songs.. you could make a scrapbook/photo album and make a little pocket for the cd on the inside of the album as a nice surprise.

Just a couple of quick ideas...
  • thanks again for the great ideas....
*finds her pad and adds champagne flutes, chocs and a cd onto the hamper shopping list*
