How can I test a used P4 chip?

I have a few used Pentium 4 Processors that I would like to test to see if they are working.

Is there any way of testing them without opening up my pc, removing theheatsink, swapping chips etc?

Thanks in advance.

Afraid not, this is the only way your going to know if they work or not.

Not unless you've got a spare PSU, RAM, graphics and motherboard.

If you use a mirror to look closey at the back of your neck you should see a slot which matches the CPU pins. If the CPU is working you should find yourself able to think much faster, if not then they're probably not working.

Don't forget to power yourself down before inserting.
