Does any one have any links for sites to find and book self catering accomodation in or near Lucerne? Not looking for hotels, and would like to keep the cost reasonable.
Any other pointers to holidaying in Switzerland (in August not winter) very welcome as not been there before.
Also looking for self catering accomodation in Alsace region of France (want to spend 1st week in France then drive to Switzerland for 2nd week) web sites for France much easier to find than for Switzerland but if anyone has stayed in any places they would reccommend in the area I would be grateful for any information.
Thanks in advance

Interhome has a basic apartment block in Lucerne - as well as more expensve accommodation.
It's nothing special, but adequate and only a short walk from the old town - also buses/trolleybuses to the station/steamer quay if you are tired/lazy.
Book on their Swiss site and save yourself some VAT. You need to understand German though0 -

Do you mean Utering an der Reuss? I stayed there about 10 months ago and thought it was brilliant. Do be aware that the so-called two bedroom apartments are all open-plan: very spacious, but not much privacy. However the kitchens and bathrooms are well-equipped.
I can confirm that you save money by booking through their Swiss (.ch) site rather than their UK one, particularly if you pay using your Nationwide card. I don't really understand German, but once I had studied their UK site I had a reasonable idea of what was going on in the German and booked there, and everything was fine. Bear in mind that the terms and conditions are different: I don't really know what I agreed to, but I trust the company and had no problems.
For Lucerne (Luzern) investigate regional travel passes. There is something called the William Tell pass that gives you transport in the region, together with free or reduced price admission to most local attractions. There are two nearby mountains that you can "climb" by train or cable-car: in each case allow a full day for the excursion. Consider going to the nearby glacier and snow theme-park at Titlis: not cheap, but I regret not going. Plan journeys on the SBB site (in English).0 -

.
Yes, that's the place.
I think the only drawback is that parking is expensive if you have a car. Interhome have a few allocated slots on the ground floor (for which you have to reserve and pay extra in advance) and there's a multi storey next door. If you can work out how to get them it does weekly tickets at not too bad a cost.0
