hey - now thats a good idea - a bit risky mind! its currently in our bedroom from our last trip - i haven't nagged him to put it away in the loft as I knew I wouldn't be able to get up and get it - and certainly cant get it back up there! perhaps i could drape a few clothes over it - OH isn't the most observant so maybe, just maybe that could work!

Especially if it's been there a while, if you move it now, he might suspect something's up! :rotfl:

One morning on my friend's birthday - her daughter gave her a present as she was saying goodbye at the school gates. it was a guide book for toront. She turned to hubby and said Ohh are we going there? He said yes in about an hour - you need to go home and pack!

    Bless.

lots of good ideas - thanks guys.

gonna see what the case looks like when its packed - it may look suss as its not a hard case, its on of those really big holdall type cases and he may be able to tell it had been filled. if it does look suss then i have indeed got good neighbours and i'll ask if i can hide it round there -i'll just give the bedroom a good tidy and he prob wont notice its gone tbh - if so i'll say i put it up in the loft.

i like the idea of a hunt for clues - i could wrap up some typically prague things??? god knows what? wooly hat, one of the kids toy planes (although dont want it to be too obv to start!) oooh i like that idea.

I surprised my hubbie to a trip to Amsterdam a few years ago. I put lots of clues to where we were going into a box, put a piece of paper cut into a heart inside saying I am taking you to.......... SURPRISE!!!!

He absolutely loved it. Whichever way you spring the surprise on him - he will be overwhelmed at all the effort you have gone to. Hope you have an amazing time

thanks julia! it has taken alot of effort! not least as we have 2 little boys so i've had to arrange them to go to grandmas for the w/end, plus booking days of work, car parking, hotel, meals, packing - eeek! its all in place now which is brilliant - i just want the 'surprise!' bit to be good. i really cant wait now - its almost killing me to hold it in!!

i'm going shopping before to get a new warm coat/hat/gloves etc - i dont think he's suspect anything there thou lol!

  • Ooh, ooh, best fake out is to tell him you and he have to get up early to run an errand, so it's something he isn't looking forward to...

my dad flew my sister's boyfriend over as a surprise for her 21st (he was studying in Europe) and duped her into picking up an imaginary friend up from the airport on the morning of her party, so she stood there sulking and holding a sign up for 'Mrs Bloggs' only to have b/friend waltz through the door.

...but back to you - so yeah, do you have a local Iceland? Tell him you both have to go to Iceland (pretend there's a big sale/offer on that your money savingness can't miss and you need him to carry things). Then when he's come out the shower or whatever, hand him his passport and say "oh, did I say Iceland, I meant Prague!!"

..or that could be too cheesy for words!!!
  • they are all good ideas!

You could print letters out P-r-a-g-u-e and put one in each of six balloons then make him burst the balloons and re arrange the letters.
