Internet - wireless connection?

hi all,

I currently have a connection wire running from the phone socket downstairs up to my spare bedroom where the computer is. I keep tripping over it and it's unsightly.

So i would like to connect to the phone socket 'wire-free' can this be done, is the connection reliable and how much would it set me back? anything else i need to consider?

many thanks for any help

You could install a Wireless Router next to the master (ADSL?) socket. Make sure it will RX/TX to the locations of the p.c's.

Hey, basically, you need a wireless internet router (about 40 quid) that will plug into your ADSL modem (which you already have). If you then add a wireless network card (20 quid) to your computer upstairs, you will have effectively created a substitute cable, running through radio (?) waves. go to https://www.ebuyer.com and click the networking tab and have a browse, thats the stuff you need. You'll need either a desktop or laptop wireless card depending on which you're computer is.
