Wondered if you ever found a fitter as I'm thinking of buying a Maia worktop & I'm in the Bromley area & will require a fitter too. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks AP0

Hi there, i'm a kitchen fitter and can fit these no problems too. If your still looking to get them done give me a call on 07900 396076. I live in Romford, Essex so not to far.
Cheers,

I've run into a similar problem to others. I'm having a kitchen installed and our builder was was advised Maia work tops were relatively easy to install. He's not installed one before and having seen the product now that it's delivered, feels it's too specialist to practice on our kitchen! Is there anyone who might be able to install for us? Thanks Anthony0

Try Phil at http://www.thestoneworkshop.co.uk/
He's fits granite and quartz, not completely sure he does this stuff, but as H'es also in the same area as you it's worth a call.
Say Alan gave you his number.0 -
Hiya,
As I understand it Maia worktops are cheaper version of Corian and Hi-Macs that can be installed by any worktop fitter or somebody with good DIY skills.
The tops are supplied with one finished length edge and both finished end edges (I believe). Where a joint has to be made it is filled with a colour matched adhesive.
A word of warning...... the acrylic surface of Maia is only 3mm bonded to chipboard, should you have a step between the two surfaces you have very little tolerence to sand it out.
Corian is 13mm and Hi-Macs is 12mm both do a 6mm version. Should your surface become scratched then with Maia you only have a limited tolerence for re-finishing.
Always make sure the joint has been thoroughly cleaned before gluing - white will show a dark discoloured joint and black will show a white discoloured joint if you fail to do so.
You can find installation videos at the Miai website: http://www.maiaworksurfaces.co.uk/installationvids.html
Hope this helpsSee you on the dark side of the moon0 -
Thanks for the steer Alan. I've contacted Phil and whilst he does to a range of similar work he hasn't worked with Maia. He's been very helpful though and given me a few contacts to try.
Old Skool - Thanks for the info and the warnings - all useful. Thanks.0 -
stay clear of the vulcano. scratches to easy. dull at first but will shine up a little. dont use baby oil products to give it a shine.it will invalidate your guarantee.
good product minerralle is much better.0 -
