I symphathise with you, we have had head gasket failures on three of out cars within 3 months, a very costly job but they are all Turbo cars and get alot of stress, my partner is skilled enough to do 2 of the cars himself it's just the time, usually you find it's the labour which is the biggest chunk of your bill as it takes a while to do.

Hope you have got it sorted out

    Argh, that's so annoying!

How many times will we have to pay this sort of bill? Surely a gasket shouldn't go twice in seven years?

It shouldn't go at all on a well designed engine. But as I say, once the HG goes it tends to weaken parts of the engine, often leading to more trouble later, and very often the engine ends up blowing its top once again.

My uncle had a 214 years ago that got to its 4th HG in 2 years before he got rid of it.

Really when the HG goes 2 times out of 3 the whole head should be replaced rather than skimmed, but that is a very expensive job.

There's a reason why the 1.4 K-series performs like a 1.6, and this is it. Insufficient internal cooling.

The reason the head will be getting replaced is due the head has been skimmed the most amount you can do or u would run into more problems.

Hi guys, well after all your great advice we have been advised to push the car over a cliff. The mechanic down the road says that after being skimmed once it will just keep going and it's not worth replacing altogether.

Shame to get rid of such a lovely car - it's an R reg rounded shape with a few dings, but other than that it's a great drive and after replacing the exhaust a few weeks ago am mad to let it go - anyone got any suggestions as to who will take it for scrap for a decent price, or what else we can do with it?

    Thanks again,
