Pumice will remove the limescale but would it scratch the surface of the glaze and possibly make it harder to clean in the future? If the glaze is scratched deep enough it could mean stains getting under the glaze that might be near impossible to remove - I tend to use vinegar or citric acid as it is not so abrasive.
Only my opinion thoughIf you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

I bought some tablets from Aldi and used them every night for 2 weeks , they got rid of all the bad stains in my loo that had built up.0

Cental heating descaler from a plumbers merchant works very well. It's pricey but a tub of granules lasts for ages (you just need a spoon-full left to dissolve in the pan overnight)0

You could also try white vinegar - it will remove the limescale too.
Again, pump out the water with a loo brush and add vinegar - you could use cheap brown vinegar or non brewed condiment - basically anything acidic like fizzy drinks, citrus juice or vinegar will work!!
Yes, white vinegar (acid) is the natural enemy of limescale (alkali). Drain the bowl, but then place kitchen towels soaked in white vinegar on the limescale, to localise and concentrate the application. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I tried vinegar, coke, steradent tablets, nothing worked.
I had to tie up the ballcock to stop toielt filing, flush it to remove most water then scoop out rest.
Then poured down bottle of limelite gel and left it few hours, this and some subsequent elbow grease got it offJan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

The steradent tabs left a pinkish rim around my loo that didn't go away for ages so just be wary of this...0

I used every substance known to man in our loo and nothing worked 100%, not even the dissolving tablets, so I put on the rubber gloves and attacked what was left with a pumice stone (it was bad, believe me, uniformly brown/grey). It's finally clear - I think all the other gunk loosened it - and doesn't seem to have damaged it. I've been putting in Harpic limescale squirt a couple of times a week overnight and it's keeping it clear.
Be careful with using cola - I found it stained and made the problem worse.0 -
Have you tried the Harpic Power Plus? Not very OS as it's £1.50 ish a bottle.
But a good slug of that down the loo should do the trick.
After half an hour ish I just stick on a pair of rubber gloves and scrub with one of those non scratch scourers.0
