  • Hi!
    I am starting a PostGrad course this September and am in need of an interest free overdraft to help me out,,the problem being that I graduated in July 2002 which is obviously just over 3 years ago. Is there any way to get around this and benefit from an interest free overdraft for a year?
    Thanks
    Loz

    Is Martin preparing a new and updated review of graduate accounts for we finalists?

    Cos I've just had through the post HSBC offering me what appears to not be very much. I'm an existing HSBC student account holder so if I were to open a graduate account elsewhere and they automatically move me onto the HSBC one is that allowed?

    Also, if I'm carrying on into further study (hopefully an MA so long as I get the right classification on my degree) do I even need to look at graduate accounts? Do I still qualify for a student account, and is that preferable to being grown up and having a graduate account?

    Thank you

    :ditto: about getting the HSBC bumpf through the post. The 7.9% loan looks tempting as I could do with consolidating my existing £18K in credit card debt.

    I would hold off in your case and then get your student account renewed if you go back to university - I had to retake a year and so they wrote to me last year with the graduate information (as I would have been due to graduate then) - I sent the form back saying I was still going to be a student for a further year and they kept the account just as it was before. Then once you actually finish being a student you will get your 2 years interest free overdraft, etc. - i.e. an extra year interest free compared to taking the graduate account conversion now.

    I read on LloydsTSB;

    "- transfer your current account from your existing bank if you're not already a Lloyds TSB customer,
    - pay at least £500 into your account per month (if you are moving your account to us)."

    So does that mean i have to transfer my current account from Nationwide to LloydsTSB as well as having to pay in at least £500 a month?
    The slight question here is that I won't be starting my new job until September, so I don't have an income at the moment.

    Thanks.
