Outlook won't launch - help please...

I have tried clicking on every option of launching Outlook that I can think of. The egg timer appears for about 5 seconds and then disappears.

I have resorted to working on the Yahoo website for the moment but do need to solve this problem.

If anyone can help in words of one sylable I'd be grateful. I'm a real numpty on techie stuff I'm afraid. Thanks

Just had a thought................ is this going to mean that I will have lost my saved emails and contact info?
  • You can also try opening it up in safe mode assuming your running outlook 2003 or 2007:

    go to start - run paste in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe /safe

    or for office 2007 its - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Outlook.exe /safe

then to go help and there should be an option for office diagnostics which will check for any problems

Nope............ got the egg timer then nothing. :o
  • your best bet is probably to do a repair which will probably require the disk

if you're worried about losing your stuff you can take a copy of all your emails and settings from:

    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    Vista: C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
