New Microwave and new Cooker

Hi there
I need some advice please. I am just about to embark on a new kitchen and have had the plans from the person doing the job. All the units and new kitchen appliances will be from Howdens.
My preference is for a gas hob and a separate built in double oven so I have the option of a grill. However the built in microwave from Howdens is a combined microwave and grill (or an even more complicated one). Basically I would prefer a conventional microwave. Can someone tell me how a combined microwave/grill works please? Do you keep door open or closed whilst grilling.
My kitchen is fairly small, galley style so very relucant to give up valuable worktop for a stand alone micro.
I presume if I don't go with the Howdens micro, there are other built in micros that will fit the space in the unit (so long as I get the dimensions from the kitchen fitter).
Any help very very much appreciated.

The quick answer is that you keep the door closed. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I'm a bit confused (nothing unusual!) ... are you planning on having a double oven and a microwave built in? If so, then I wouldn't worry about the microwave having a grill. Mine has a grill too - but I never use it.
If, on the other hand, you're thinking of having a single oven and a combi-microwave then, yes, you can grill in the microwave with the door closed but the grill may not be as large and versatile as the sort of grill you get in a standard oven ... depends on the model (but you would normally get a grill in the single oven too).
HTHI write blogs about kitchens ... and I design kitchens for a living ... I just love kitchens!0
