Hi,

I am looking to buy a new DVD HD Recorder, http://www.discounttv.co.uk/product/Panasonic_DMREX77_DVD_Recorder.html?gclid=CLXbhuyy_pACFQ6ZQwodzByz1Q

Anyone have one of those?

Can you confirm,
1.will it control my Sky+ box i.e. can I set it to choose which channel to select and record?
2.does it have the facility to series link, i.e. multiple episodes of a soap?

PS: I realise these are standard features of Sky+ but unfortunately I cannot get dual feed to the box as we have a comunal areil.

It wont be able to control your Sky box. You would have to set up series link on your Sky +, then use the AV channel on the DVD recorder to dump the progammes on.

The Freeview tuner in the Panasonic could record all episodes of a programme , but since you are in Spain that's a bit academic.

Thanks for the advice, but the question relates to my flat in UK.

Please be advised, there is not a series link facility on my Panasonic TV Electronic Program Guide and I did not see that facility on the DVD recorder either. Man in the shop did not know. As per first post I can't use the series link on the Sky+ box either.

Obviously I can manually imput each episode but I was looking for a more elegant solution.

I would go for a Humax PVR that now has working Series Link. For those proggies that really have to be transferred to DVD, this can be done simply via a Scart cable from the Humax to a DVD recorder eg the Philips multi format one currently in Richer Sounds for around £70.

A very knowledgable distributor then ........

I have a DMREX77 and it will not control either Sky or Sky +.

It does not have a series link either, so as previously stated you will need to program it.

Apart from that it is a splendid machine, highly recommended.

You will probably be able to download a pdf version of the manual on the Panny homepage. Support section or customer service.

Most electrical companies have this facility these days.

Thanks for the prompt response guys. I found the the manual on the Panasonic site and it seems it does have a spuedo series link. They call it "Auto Renewal Recording". It works by making repeated the recording at the same time each day or week.
