There's a Dell WinXP Home recovery CD on Bittorrent at the moment. It's for a 9100 but it works with all Dells although you'll need to get drivers for your hardware. It will only install on Dells.

IT IS PERFECTLY LEGAL to download and use this if you have a valid Windows XP CoA. You pay for the licence to use Windows XP, not the media.

As always, the caveat is that just because it's the right disc doesn't mean it's not been tampered with. Unfortunately there are a pile of versions of windows going around on torrent sites that have had all sorts of nasty stuff slipstreamed into them. Viruses, keyloggers etc.

If I were going to do something dodgy like that, an install CD for a prebuilt is EXACTLY where I'd put my trojan, due to the specific audience it'd have.

There's probably nothing wrong with that cd image, and I'm far from anti piracy, but just exercise caution with P2P, especially with something like an operating system.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

It's clean - well the one that's advertised as bing for Latitude 9100 in the description. I used it last weekend for the Sis in laws Dell. It's an old long discontinued Celeron thing on PC2700 but worked fine.
