Scanner doing its own thing

We have an Epson Photo Stylus X620 copier, scanner etc. which has started to do its own thing when scanning.

I have it set to Auto Crop, but it scans things in a reduced size to the top left corner. I haven't touched any buttons, and it does this, then goes back to normal again. I am trying to scan postcards when it does this.

Anyone got any idea ?

Don't use auto crop. Scan the postcards manually.

The Auto Crop is in the scan area, and the only other option is Max Area, in which case it scans the whole area, and the card appears even smaller

I'm not familiar with that particular scanner but on my scanner I can do a preview scan and then drag a box over the result of the preview with the mouse, to determine the area that will be scanned.

Thanks, I use it to list dozens of postcards for Ebay, and don't usually have to preview anything. I just scan onto memory stick and then plug into the laptop for listing.

No idea why it has started to play up, but looks like I might have to invest in a cheap scanner from PC World.

Sounds like you'd benefit from having the preview switched on. I assume there must be a preview and there'll be a setting somewhere to switch it back on.

To be honest I only read this thread because the title of the thread conjured up images of the scanner going out late drinking and partying.

I can't find the instruction book, so don't know how to turn the preview on, but will have a look

Maybe it has been going out on its own partying, and that's why it's incapable of working properly

Scanner hangover. More common than you think.

As for the preview it'll be in the scanner software somewhere, but it'll depend on the software obviously. There even may be a settings option come up when you do a scan.
