Ford KA Heater

The heater on my KA isn't working correctly.

When it warms up (if on hot) it stays hot and only blows warm air in regardless of whether or not its on the cold setting.

Anyone know of any workarounds/ tweaks?

Your heater control valve has broken, it's very common.

You need to go to Ford and buy a replacement as the ones on ebay are normally the old broken batch. It will take you about an hour with a couple of screwdrivers and a set of molegrips to change it.

The part costs £40 from Ford and sits under the plastic at the back of the engine bay.
  • This is very common problem of Fiesta and KA

The part costs around £30 from ebay or other internet sites. You could buy a Haynes Manual and do it yourself.

I didnt though but went to a garage who charged only a small amount. I think it was £15 for fitting it.

Our Ka has had 2 of those heater control valves sold on ebay fitted both have failed. One on open, yay! constant heat in summer and one on closed yay! constant cold in winter :)

It's worth paying the extra £7 I think I paid by getting one from Ford which had a different part number to those sold on ebay.

our 2004 ka has the same issue and blows hot air only, actually really hot air even when set to zero

what's a typical cost to get this fixed?
  • My friend's KA has same problem it's a 55plate and she has had it from new. It's been in to Ford numerous times and still doesn't work properly despite having new valves.
