Help people!
My daughter recently purchased an Acer 4315 from tesco with her Christmas money & we can't get it to connect to the net. It runs on Vista home basic. Security on the router is WPA - TKIP, it can see the router & part of the software says connected then it say unable to connect or limited acitivity.
I also run XP Toshiba M5 off this with no problems.
Have tried turning router security off. I have checked all the key codes, can't see anything on the firewall that would block.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Oh I have connected via cable into the back of the router & the laptop & it worked fine.

Assuming you are setting a matching encryption type, and there is no other security on the router (mac address filtering), and the key is correct, you could try disabling ipv6 on the wireless adapter.
Disabling IPv6
Unlike Windows XP, IPv6 in Windows Vista cannot be uninstalled. To disable IPv6 on a specific connection, you can do the following:
•
In the Network Connections folder, obtain properties of the connection and clear the check box next to the Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6) component in the list under This connection uses the following items. This method disables IPv6 on your LAN interfaces and connections, but does not disable IPv6 on tunnel interfaces or the IPv6 loopback interface.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
