Son just rang in a panic from Uni......night out on the town, returned home ahem, slightly worse for wear!!and put a glass of water down by laptop....at some point in night knocked it over. Discovered it this morning, I tole him to remove battery, turn upside down and put in warm place to (hopefully)dry out, also said to try a hair drier on a cool setting.and then pray!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone have any further advice?
We have accidental damage cover on our contents insurance (just added before xmas when I re did our policy thanks to a good quote)as the laptop is still in warranty but not covered by this for accidental damage I presume we can claim on our policy?
Has anyone any experience of this and any pitfalls to avoid when making a claim?
Thanks.....
kids!!!!

As above, but if he has a screwdriver handy, remove the keyboard/HD and mop up any water (after removing battery). Be careful if using a hairdryer, it could generate static.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Yep, remove anything he can easily remove, like battery, access cover to memory etc. then leave in a warm place like an airing cupboard for 1-2 weeks. The key thing is do not switch it on after a couple of days to see if it works. Leave it for at least a week preferably longer. At least it's only water so there should be no residue left behind. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
