I must admit that I was the one that directed her towards BG because we have had problems ourselves with a couple of companies in the Yellow pages when our boiler has broken down in the past and I have lost faith. As she is on her own I didn't want someone to pull a fast one on her.0

If you are unsure of your next move, or want to know if anyone has used a particular company or knows anything about them, then come and ask. It's surprising how combined information can help. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Some Age Concerns have a list of 'approved' workmen. This doesn't mean that Age Concern recommends them, it means they are workmen who Age Concern believe to be reliable, skilled and trustworthy tradesmen.................. ....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 ....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0

Ask Citizens Advice if there are any schemes local to you mother that will assist or even arrange for the work to be done for free.
I myself live in Mid Wales, the Welsh Assembly have a scheme which I didnt even know about, they approached ALL pensioners last year re Heating and heat saving methods. They sent a man to see me and he decided we needed a new boiler, even though the boiler was 8 years old only, we got excellent service, a new combo boiler, radiators drained and flushed through, programmer supply checked and a few weeks later they came to fit window locks and door chains, Free !! First times in 50 years of married life we ever got something for nothing..well done Wales !! There is also a scheme called 'care and repair' they are very helpfull although I havent used thier services myself I hear very good reports about them. Sometimes you know, there ARE things available that we just dont get to know about !!
Im sure that something, somewhere is a vailable to your mother, checkout age concern, advice shops, help the aged, ect ect and I hope you can find help in your search.. regards0
