    Murphy,
The nearest Walmart to the Car hire facility in Las Vegas (all car companies go to the same place now) is just off of the 215 south about 3 miles away, go to the one on North Nelis Blvd. there is a smaller one before that but it isn't a supercentre, which you will need to get a booster. Cost should be no more than $10 there, there are usually some but not many cabs at the CHF, are you planning to ask the cab to wait, or let him go and get another for the return?
Good plan but only really worth the effort if going for a long stretch, if I was only saving $50 I would hire the seat

Thanks for the info. I'd Mapquested & Google Earthed and come up with the same conclusion, but theres nothing like firsthand knowledge to help you on the way .
My intention is to go and collect the car on my lonesome, (whilst Mrs Cat is packing the bags on our last morning, just prior to checking out of the room) and then visit Mr Walmart on the way back to the hotel.

As for the saving ......... hmmmmmm, I've saved several hundred $$$'s on this hire by doing my research into exactly what I need and exactly what the hire companies offer. For me, the car seat milarkey will save me about $280 on top of that, for others, the saving may/will be less. But the important thing is that I've made the post, people have added to it, and folks who maybe weren't aware of the idea have a choice in whether to use it or not.;)

    Hi All

Further to the earlier post Dollar have confirmed to me that they dont have a max charge, their standard is $9 a day, pushed them as other have a max and they came back and confirmed they didnt.

For us and everyone will be different, due to the cost of the whole rental including car seat hire the cheapest would be budget / avis especially as there are free upgrades. Even without the car seat hire going with budget/ avis is still cheaper and having used them before the service and cars are excellent.

Maximum charges for the big rentals

Alamo charge Infant Seat ($9.99/Day; $49.95/Max Amt)
Avis / Budget $9 per day is max $45 a week, $60 per month

Sorry mate, didn't mean to hijack your post, just have this inbuilt thing of not giving a yes or no answer, as you might have noticed:o
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • Hi all. I just wanted to follow up on an earlier point about one-way charges.

We hired in California last year, and there was no charge for dropping off somewhere different. However, we are hiring in DC this year, and dropping off in Atlanta - and we're being quoted one way charges of $200 minimum. Anyone found a way round this, or a broker that doesn't charge for one way trips?

I have to say that the quotes I've got so far, the brokers are much, much cheaper than going through the car hire companies direct. I've looked at US Car Hire, USRentaCAr and fifteen02 - anyone got any other recommendations?

    Thanks.
