Well after all the other problems i've had recently its nice to be posting in this forum.
I want to take my girlfriend away to Barcelona in March from the 10th ot the 13th/14th.
I've had a quick look for flights but am not clued up on where to stay in Barcelona as have never been. It is to be a surprise birthday trip for her and want to make it as nice as possible but without spending too much. Are there anywhere nice but cheap places to stay in the city or would i be better booking flights and a car and driving out of the city and use the car to come back in. Any advice on Barcelona greatly appreciated.

Dig inside; inside is the fountain of good, and it will forever flow, if you will forever dig.

Just tried https://www.travelsupermarket.com and prices were from £26 a night, thats not bad for double, all the cheap airlines go there, and try carjet for carhire.Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. :beer:0

hi
Barcelona are not particularly cheap - have a trawl through all the reviews on Trip Advisor (looking for the cheaper ones).
You could stay off towards the coast - car not really necessary as there is a good train system. However I think a decent cheap hotel in the city centre would make the trip more worthwhile as you are not going for that long and there is sooooooo much to see.
I looked at the following Suite Gaudi (number 1 rating on trip advisor for specialist accomodation - good location and they bring you breakfast to your room), El Jardi, El Market (above a very good restaurant), as well as all the usual offerings that turn up on Hotelopia (there are various discount codes knocking around - just do a google - for this plus 10% back via quidco), alpharooms and Venere (no need to pay up front - there is a discount code but I dont have it).0
