Washing Machine Broke - Need New one!

skintandsad can i ask roughly how many washes youe have been doing a day?
it sounds very good if its lasted twelve years0 -
Let me put the point from the other side: You always have to pay for quality, but in the long run quality pays for itself.
My advice, seeing that you're a "heavy user", would be to look for a good deal on a Miele (o.k., o.k., I know it's in the top price band) or Bosch machine. Can't beat German engineering ...0 -

In the beginning there were two of us, and a hairy labrador; so probably averaged three washes a week - 1 whites, 1 darks, 1 coloureds.
Then along came baby, and suddenly I was doing a wash nearly every day (don't know how you manage five a day :O poor you!!!!)
So over the life of the machine, I supposed it averages 4 a week. I did have to have the odd little thing fixed here and there, but nothing major. I finally gave up on it when my clothes came out one day with grease marks on it. Hence the Dyson story began...........!!!
I'm glad Dyson gave up on washing machines - it really wasn't one of their better products!
Oh just a thought as well - the Hotpoint washing machine was a bog standard, run of the mill, washes ya clothes and thats about it one!!!I'm a nutter :j0 -
You should have a look at Which magazine who do reliability surveys and test machines. It is free in the library. A useful site for those who can't be bothered to go to the library and want to know a few 'best buy' models picked by which? is http://www.which.hughesdirect.co.uk/productlist.php?cda=whichbestbuys
it doesn't list them all, but it is free to view.
I avoid extended guarantees, I've fixed my own washing machine several times now just by looking for advice on internet BUT if you are a power user and the machine is cheap and more likely to fail it could be worth it - the tesco 50 quid for 3 years sounds pretty reasonable.0 -
We got a reconditioned hotpoint one, that was under a year old, and have had it for about 6 months. its the quitest one we've ever had, and it cost £80.
We did this as even £80 was very hard to find, but if you can afford it any machine with parts and labour for n extended period is your best bet.
Ask the staff in an electrical shop what they can do for you. My mum got an extra free year in Comet by asking this.
However ours has been great!:heart2::heartpuls:heart2: I WOULD NOT CHANGE MY AUTISTIC DAUGHTER FOR THE WORLD

The Bosch at £270 is good value for a good machine.
Delivery is free and reasonably quick and they will take your old one away (costs extra £15 though)"It's nice to be important but more important to be nice"

Hi,
when mine broke the engineer recommended getting a good make like Bosch but advised us to just get the basic model as less things to go wrong.
We got a Bosch, didn't pay for any cover and it is still working perfectly three years later.
Only do one wash per day though.Money SPENDING Expert0
