Car Insurance having had a company car
Hello
This is the first time I have used this site and I need some help.
I have just changed jobs. In my old job I had a company car so did not accumulate a "no claims bonus". However I clocked up hundreds of thousands of miles and never had an accident in 8 years !!
I now have a job with no company car and have bought a BMW 318 tourer.
However with ZERO no claims the cost to insure my car is astronomical.
Can anyone give me advice on what to do ??
Thanks
Rupert

Ask your previous employer to provide you with a letter stating how long you have been driving a company car, and how many of those years were claim free.
Most insurers will allow you some discount for the number of claim free years you have been driving a company car. I insured my own car with Tesco's after having a company car. I provided them with a copy of the letter, and was allowed the equivalent of 4 years no claims discount.
I expect each insurer will have their own way of dealing with cases like this, so best to do some shopping around. Most insurers want the business, especially for drivers with a good track record!People are more important than things0 -
cc25 is right, but still check around for the best deal as they will vary from insurer to insurer0
