I'm looking to speed up my PC.
I came across this page and it looks like it might help but it seems a bit technical.
Any techie here that can tell me in English what that means? Or even make any other suggestions.
Thanks.

It's a page of tweaks.
Some look dangerous - like turning off system restore and tweaking the registry. Others won't speed up your computer but clam to spped up the start up time while others wll take the shine of some processes to shave off milliseconds.0 -
Before you try any of these tweaks, check how much memory you have in your PC.
Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information.
If the "Total Physical Memory" is no more than 512 MB, you would probably gain an increase in performance by installing at least another 512MB. Depending on the type of memory you currently have, this could well be under £20 (although it could also be over £40!).
The one tweak that most "experts" recommend is to Defragment the disc, and this is pretty idiot-proof (Not that I'm suggesting for one minute that you're an idiot!).
Go to System Tools again and select "Disk Fragmenter""The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0
