My dh and I want to go somewhere beautiful, anywhere on the coast in Italy. Can anyone recommend a hotel or villa (or even region to look at)please? Our requirements are:
Most important request is that it has direct access to the beach with sea views.
2 weeks leaving on or after 15th July and getting back by 12th August.
Our nearest airport is Stansted but we could also go from any London airport, Birmingham, Coventry or Norwich.
Price up to £750 each, preferably to include some meals (DBB would be ideal if that was within our budget)
We went to the Venetian Riviera last year for this sort of price but it was rather touristy and we would prefer somewhere less so a bit further south if possible.
All help gratefully recieved and thanks buttons pressed as often as I possibly can!

With you being near Stansted, you could fly Easyjet to Naples. Their prices for that time of year are around £35 each way at the moment. Flying into Naples you have the choice then of Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi all on the coast. You could always go to Capri which is 45 minutes by boat from Naples or Sorrento. Sorrento is more touristy imo, Positano more exclusive but very hilly. Beaches tend to be more pebbly than sandy in this area. This is a great area to holiday as there is so much to see (very historic) but great if you just want to lie on a beach all day like me. Phone hotels directly to get the best prices. Check out trip advisor for recommendations.0

Sicily!
Taormina is the best resort but is set on a hilltop so no direct access to the beach.
Instead stay in Mazzaro/Taormina Mare or Letojanni.
High end hotels in Mazzaro with direct access to the beach include Mazzaro Sea Palace, Grand Hotel Atlantis Bay, Hotel Taormina Mare.
Access to taormina proper is by cable car, bus or taxi.
For a lower budget you want something in Letojanni - many hotels line the beachfront - San Pietro, Ciao Ciao, Club, Da Nino, Park Hotel Silemi.
Access to Taormina via free/cheap buses to cable car stop or direct to the town for about £2 return.
Catania is the airport you want.0 -
We stayed on a little island called "Elba" in the best hotel i have ever been to. The place is wonderfull if a little quite. The Hotel use on local organic food. They offer a relaxing stay. (No ball games etc in the pool and no unnecesery noise) My girlfriend is Italian so we drove there from Milan and used the ferry. Unfortunatley i don't think you can fly direct from the uk. The only broucher feturing "Elba" is Kuoni. Sorry i can't remember the name of the hotel but i will look and post later.0

We went to Sardinia last year and had an amazing time, the food was fantastic, the locals friendly and there were lots of gorgeous photo opportunities. May be a bit on the pricey side as its peak season but def worth looking into.
We stayed near Villasimius in the south and are considering going back for a longer holiday next year because we enjoyed it so much.Wins in 2011 - Babymouse born in Jan weighing 10lb2.5oz! :jMake £5 a day in Oct challenge = £145.01/£1550
