That's good, but also..vent the pump by loosening the large silver screw on the front, air followed by water hopefully.
Beware !! hot water when venting pump, the screw is quite short.

Boo sob, no joy. Could not locate the valve at the back, OH tried everywhere round the boiler but no joy.
Managed to loosen the large silver screw, out dribbled out a bit of water, system was supposed to be turned off right when we did that?
Anyway, switched everything on again, and when I turned on central heating main burner did it's usual and switched itself off, pipe from burner v.v. hot. Pilot light stayed lit.
Thanks so much for your helpful suggestions, now at a loss really, never mind, always worth a try.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Hi
I assume this is a sealed system and you fill the system with a filling loop?
If so then the item you are looking for is within the boiler where only Corgis should venture.
Having said that, try this first.
With the system, off take out the large screw from the pump ,put a small flat blade screwdriver in the hole and you'll find it will turn the impeller of the pump you'll find the slot in the end of the impeller by turning the screwdriver . Keep going until it is free.
Turn your boiler stat down to minimum, run the boiler and switch from c/h to hot water a few times .(give it 30 seconds or so to allow it to move.) This will move the divertor back and forth and might shift your air lock.
I generally leave system pressure at 1 bar cold.
Edit. system is generally off when venting pump.
