Abbey Credit Card

Hi,

This is my first post on the site so please bear with me.

I have the above card and tried, today, to balance transfer to my newly acquired Barclaycard to take advantage of a 0% deal only to be informed that it couldn't be done. This was due to the fact that Abbey have now been taken over by Setanta and they in turn have moved the business offshore.
According to the bloke at Barclaycard, this makes it difficult to balance transfer to Setanta and therefore they have stopped doing it!

Has anyone had the same experience?

Are there any practical workarounds as presumably this will be a problem for all credit card companies?

Yes, I think someone else posted on this recently.

btw, it's Santander who have taken over Abbey.

It may only be Barclaycard who have blacklisted them, they are the only ones I've heard of doing this.

Easy way to remember is one is an Irish company that went to the wall and the others a Spanish company thats about to go to the wall
