MONEY MORAL DILEMMA: Should Tyrone take Jack's car?

As a poker player myself it depends on a number of factors. The players personalities, the stakes, the seriousness of the games they play. Ok ok i'm getting a bit too in depth. My solution to the problem is that they come to a comprimise where they are both happy. Could be something simple like a cash deal. But why bet over your original buy in when you don't have the nuts, your not professional and it is very poor bankroll management.
Stupid play, stupid idiot!!0 -
This is supposed to be a friendly game! If he keeps the car he risks losing his friends, if he gives the car back, what happens next time the stakes get high?
Jack may not have a gambling problem, there's no indication he gambles elsewhere.
Personally I would not take the car, I'm such a nice guy:), but I would take the cash and suggest we set rules in future - No credit, only play for cash, and each player starts with a maximum amount of cash, say £50, when it's gone you're out.
Of course, as it's a friendly game, the sensible way to play is using chips and say it's £10 to join the game. Whoever holds the most chips at the end of the night takes all the tenners.0 -
Had to think a bit about this one. He should keep the car until Jack seeks help for his gambling problem. Going without a car for a few months will do him good.:rotfl:0

So if Jack bet on a horse which lost, does he expect to ask the bookies for his money back becuse he was drunk/stupid/etc. Or if he bought stock on Frozen Orange Juice, which then dived, can he ask for his investment back? NO. So he should give up the car and gambling at the same time.0

This one doesn't need thinking about. Indeed, the question is posed incorrectly for as soon as the hand was lost the car ceased to be Jack's. It should be posed as 'Should Tyrone give his car to Jack?' and the answer would be no. If Jack asks for it he loses all his honour and could never be invited to play cards again nor indeed could he expect his word to have any value. Don't gamble what you can't afford to lose.0

If jack is dumb enough to bet his beloved car on a card game, then he should pay the consequences! Tyrone won fair and square and should not hesitate to take the car!0

There were four people involved in this game. It started out as a bit of fun between friends, but Jack and Tyrone got drunk and spoiled the evening for everybody. Kirk and Vera should tell them both to grow up, sober up and not be so stupid in future.0

NO WAY should you take the car...
Have you known Jack to own anything half decent, Its going to cost you a small fortune.0 -
Tyrone should say to Jack, "Listen mate, I know you love your car so I'll let you keep it. We will convert the car to a loan of, say, £6,000 and you can pay me off as and when. We'll do it at two points per week and I'll send Big Jack round to pick up the payment. If you're late it gets added on the the loan. Next time we play Poker mate you will win - I mean, you've must have had all your bad luck by now - and everything will be OK. Come on what do you say?" Then Tyrone should wait until Jack gets even deeper and take his house off him. I know that Vera would be turning in her grave but if Tyrone did become a professional extorter he would not have to work over the road for that jail bird Kevin. See - it's easy - all sorted. :cool:0

I agree chap! But on the basis that all property is theft and you don't value what you have until you lose it Tyrone should keep getting Jack drunk until he has everything Jack owns and until Jack has to run errands for him just to stay alive. Life's tough!!!!0
