  • Or even better, make it in a teapot. I can't leave the house without having consumed at least three cups of tea so I always make a pot full!

I have just got my composter from recycle now. Its been so windy, Ive just spent the last few days chasing the various parts around the garden!

  • Well for the record II put in tea bag and boiling water, mash about, add milk-remove teabag when colour of tea is to my liking! Even when I make tea for fussy people it turns out good! Never heard that milk on teabags is a problem for composting! We have same issue with rats-next door putting bread on our garage roof! Veg only to go in th e compost bin!

I always put the milk in first in a cup of tea and my council have issued a brown bin for veg peelings etc and it states tea bags can be added but surely if they have been contaminated with milk can they still go in?

I think it is something to do with the reg's the councils work under - if it is animal waste then this needs a different type of commercial composting than only vegetable to meet the various requirements. So our council ban tea bags because "they can't be sure that they haven't been in contact with milk" - maybe yours has the 'right' composting system.

Personally, we've compost tea-bags with no problem at all, with and without milk - and it seems a waste to landfill them.

Just got a wormery recently and I'm trying them in there too - although they seem slow to eat anything during the winter.
