M&S underpants: not just Jeremy Clarkson's problem!

Options
Read today that Mr Top Gear has written to M&S's chairman about the dodgy quality of M&S mens' underpants these days, compared to in the past.
He's lucky he doesn't (presumably!) have to wear the women's ones. I bought some a year or two ago that were the usual, reliable, cotton Marks and Sparks dependables. Recently I bought a pack and an elderly friend likewise - as she said, they are half as thick as they used to be (or less) & so badly made that they look like they will last 5 minutes. Also uncomfortable to wear.

Seeing as they're no good, where can I buy decent quality, ordinary cotton bikinis for wimmin? (at a reasonable price).

Primark for cheap knickers, and wasn't it actually Jeremy Paxman, Mr Newsnight, who complained to Stuart Rose?

Yes it was Paxman not Clarkson.

Feel a bit sorry for him really - he says he never intended it to become public, but wanted to make the chairman aware of his views, and now he has been plastered all over the papers with comments about his pants!
Good on him though - it goes to show that consumer affairs are everyone's business and people don't have to become complacent just because they have more money than others.
  • I dont understand what the paper was trying to achieve... Were they tyring to embarras Paxman or something? I personally don't think it worked, as if anything it shows (as other posters hagve said) that consumer affairs are "everyone's business".

I got some M&S undies at Christmas (lacey short style ones), and think they're fab! Comfortable as well as kinky, and seem to be very well made. (They're from the normal range, not the expensive range).

Have also had undies from Topshop before, which were RUBBISH! After 2 washes, the colour had run, then crotch had come un-seamed (!!), and a couple of months later the elastic went baggy!

Wasn't overly impressed with Primark pants either!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Yes it was Paxman although Clarkson gets his knickers in a twist particularly when it comes to personal data ;)

I wonder if M&S are going down market

I find Tescos pants very good quality, and quite reasonable (couple or three quid for a five pack)
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
