Does it really matter??, personally I couldn't give a damn if anyone copies mine, I look upon on it as a compliment.

I'd give a damn if it was a potential competitor.

That's one way of looking at it. I can see your point... it's only a load of words, but it took me an hour of my time to create it. It's annoying when someone uses something you've created without permission (and in this case) without even asking for permission. Plus ebay have the page http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/vero-image-text-theft.html
which at least indicates I'm not alone in my thoughts. If I'd stopped selling this item months ago, then I wouldn't bother, but they're still selling v. well and someone else is using my effort for their own gain. I was wise enough to watermark my picture, it's a shame I couldn't do it for the description too

That's Ok in theory but my buyer dumped my completed sale and bought the other because it was £1.00 cheaper. It caused a real problem as I needed to go through a dispute to get my funds back and the item didn't do so well when re-listed. I lost £5 in totoal :(

It's hardly the end of the world, I wouldn't give a hoot personally.
  • I don't find it particularly fair that someone who has a similar/same item as me to sell would just C&P my description, I pride myself on having informative, well-writen descriptions which can sometimes take ages to write, if there's a seller who would just C&P my description as he can't be bothered to write his own, how much effort will he put into making sure that everything's packed properly and sent by the correct method (the postage method that I paid for)?
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

  • it is unfair to copy someone elses auction description without permission as they might have put plenty of work into it to make it eye catching. this happened to me where the user ripped my entire text including colours and fonts! they couldnt take my photo as i make sure i personalise all of mine in a drastic way :p

i was annoyed because they were a competitor to goods with a variable price - the better your auction ad the more people believe in you as a seller and the better price you will eventually get. no jokes!

so i reported it to ebay and within a few hours their listing was pulled, and damn right too. lazy !!!!!!s.

Quite. Karma will get such lowlifes eventually through bad feedback (and the sneaky buyers too, through PP performance from their 'preferred' sellers). And they'll be outraged when it does: with that sort nothing's ever their fault.

Not much comfort at the moment of course!
