Ford KA

Options
I have considered buying an automatic vehicle as I am a very nervous driver but the cost of one is expensive. I am considering a Ford KA. Seen an 04 one for £4K.

Whats peoples views on this?

Are you a nervous purchaser as well, you'll be dead before you get this car you've been asking about for 6 months.

Once you've done a 100 miles in a manual, you'll hardly notice the gearstick, and it will be cheaper to run/buy/maintain.

Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • I ran an automatic small car for a while and it had a bigger drink problem than an alcofrolic!
Big auto's are fine, but small ones are bad on fuel.

Never actually seen a Ka as an auto...

To be honest the Ford CVT box is rubbish anyway.

There are lots of Polo's, Saxo's and Corsa auto's out there which are better...

Sorry. Meant to mention seen KA as manual. Been listening to what people say about getting a manual over auto. KAs dont come in auto either!
  • It's a good job as it'd be horendous to drive with the elastic band gear box.

    Get a Polo or Corsa...

Ive just sold an 02 plate Ka base done 36,000 miles for £1995 to give you an idea.

Bare in mind you can get brand new Ka's for circa £4995.

Every time I see your name in a post, it is about this car or finance for this car, or that car, or another car, most of your posts are about a car that you never seem to buy.

Why not just have one thread?

I am going through the process of deciding...I am very nervous, I am trying to get my finances in order and I dont have a clue where to start or whats best. One month I am determined to go for it, the next I freak out!

I'd stop thinking about it until the finances are in order.

A car is a car, just pick one (group 1 ish for cheap insurance) you like the look of within your budget, find one, if second hand do a hpi check (maybe AA inspection), and haggle. Take someone with you if you need support.

get some insurance quotes before you commit to buying, the small ford's with the zetec engine can be quite expensive to insure, you might want to consider something in a lower bracket.

    What cars would people recommend?

I am looking for something small, cheap to run and reliable.
