Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo - Mis-sold

Morning - I am new to this forum so I hope I am posting this in the correct area. Approximately a year ago I was approached by Lloyds TSB to change my Lloyds TSB Platinum Visa card to a LLoyds TSB Airmiles Duo account - I was told that as it was a new card type I would get 1000 complementary airmiles as an incentive to swap over. I have been checking my statements regularly and have not recieved the bonus airmiles. I called the Airmiles department this mornind and explained my situation only to be told that they know of no such offers and that 1000 Airmiles was a lot and would not have been offered. I feel that this has been totally mis-sold to me - can anyone offer any advice? Many thanks in advance!

i cannot comment on the particular incentive if it was offered, however even if you had not decided to change over, you would have no choice now, as lloyds tsb are withdrawing all the visa credit cards now (as per a letter i received from them) and are offereing people this card as an alternative (or a standard mastercard), so even if you had decided to stay with the visa card, you would have to change over now any way

Best thing to do is to complain to Airmiles and Lloyds TSB.

I was supposed to get 500 miles, but Lloyds said that it was no such offer. Complained to Lloyds and they credited my card with £10, complained again as wanted the miles and it's being looked into again.

Complained to airmiles as well and they credited my account with 500 miles within 48 hours.

Lloyds have to acknowledge this complaint otherwise I got to the ombudsman and it costs them £120 everytime a complaint goes to the ombudsman. So if you complain and they keep saying no, just say you'll go to the ombudsman, as it'll be cheaper for them to credit the miles than have a fine from them :)

Sounds familiar, was back in July 2007 according to my statements. I was offered a "free" upgrade on my VISA card by Lloyds a while back, offered a 1% cashback incentive for first 3 months.

When it came through it was an Amex card so I suddently realised the catch and how they could afford the 1% cashback. I put a load of business expenditure through it thinking what the heck, let's make use of it (where accepted).

Just before the 3 months was up, between June and July statements, they "upgraded" it to the Airmiles rewards and I lost the 1% cashback. They were now offering airmiles.

Still chasing them, will let you know if I get a result.

I got a different offer. I received a letter/form 'We're planning to update your credit card account...' a week or so back. It's this Airmiles Duo offer. They offer 2 options

Option 1 - Two cards (1) Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo American Express Card (2) Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo Mastercard

    Option 2 - Trustcard Visa

I can still keep my Trustcard Visa if I want (I don't know if I should go for this offer or not - I don't trust any sales info my bank sends me)
  • Are you sure it was a Trustcard VISA and not MASTERCARD?

All of LTSB 's credit cards will shortly be Mastercard only and debit cards Visa.
  • As far as I know, you need to apply for lloyds duo card via airmile.co.uk in order to get airmiles, nor direct through Lloyds. The other thing is that BA not longer offer flights from Gatwick (although they still advertise flights to Malta, Ibixz, etc in sunday papers) BA is are selling off lots of European flights to EasyJet but haven't told those who already bought tickets for the summer - only found out by pure chance....

There's an offer on at the moment for free flights, start at: http://www.airmiles.co.uk/

There's a couple of conditions for the free flights, but still a good offer.

But you still earn airmiles outside the special offer, I've already got a card and have racked up a stack of airmiles on it (because I already have one, can't take the new offer!!!). You get 1 mile for every £10 spent on the Amex card and 1 mile for every £50 spent on the Mastercard. You only get one statement, but it's a semi-useful way around the problems when places don't take Amex.

I went into my Lloyds Tsb branch to ask about the free flights deal, i was handed a form that i had to complete and get my wife to sign then return to the branch, I did this and when the Airmiles cards came i rang Lloyds Tsb to ask about the flights. I was told that they would show up on my next statement as a voucher, they did not show. I then rang Lloyds Tsb and was told that the flight deal was only if you apply through Airmiles.
I then rang Airmiles up and was told the same story, they told me to go to my branch, i was told at the branch that there was nothing they could do.
Do i have any claim on Lloyds as to the flights or miles.
I was planning on booking a short break in April, now i am out of pocket through no fault of mine.
  • I have just destroyed my two Lloyds TSB Duo airmiles cards as I experienced problems with using them. I was on my third set of replacement cards. I had trouble with the Mastercard, which was eventually swallowed by the machine in a Lloyds bank branch.

The American Express card (which I was planning to use the most as it gives twice the miles over the Mastercard), was a nightmare. I had it rejected in several outlets. In Tescos two days ago, for example, it was rejected at the tobacco counter, then rejected three times at the normal check out, before it was retained by the store under its rules (presumably because it had been tried 3 or more times). It was also rejected at M & S.

PS: When I signed up on line I got no introductory airmiles, but I note from another poster that you only get these if you get your card from Airmiles itself.
