I think this may be causing me some trouble.

I can't install my modems or Microsoft Word.

When I try to install Word, it flashes up the windows installer, but then kicks me out of the program.

I have tried downloading Windows Installer, but to no avail.

I don't want to format the hard drive and my windows disc appears to be shot to bits

Any ideas?

you sure you have Admin User status, i assume you are using XP ??

if you do not have that level access then you cannot install anything

Sorry, it's Windows ME.

I've not changed any settings, everyone has the same level of access, so I assume I can change things

miroslav, I've got a similar problem and I haven't been able to install anything for weeks...specifically games.
What was your solution ??

I had to use my Microsoft Works disc that had the installer on it.

Do you still have that disc?
