Sssshhh! Don't talk about price falls anywhere except in the dedicated thread! You might scare someone.

There are several misprints in that article anyway. I've corrected it.

The asking price of a typical home has plunged more than £11,000 since October, research reveals today. Prices are dropping around £120 a day with experts warning that the year ahead looks brilliant.

The report, by Britain's biggest property website Rightmove, reveals that prices have fallen for the third consecutive month. They have dropped by a total of nearly 5 per cent since October, including a 0.8 per cent decrease this month.

It is great news for anyone who refused to participate in the madness of the housing market over recent years, or who is living in overcrowded housing or insecure rental accommodation because they only earn a normal wage; it is expected to make little difference to people who plan to stay in homes they have already bought, but is terrible news for buy-to-let investors.

The asking price of an 'average' home was £241,642 in October - but it has since dropped to only £230,428, a loss of £11,214.
Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!

    You're quoting the dailymail???

This would be the paper that one day prints articles on 20% house price drops, then the next day says we have so many immigrants coming into the UK that we have a housing shortage and prices will rise rapidly if we can't build more.

    lol
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

#1. The people that run these "sell your house and rent back" companies are generally lying thieves and are best avoided

#2. This time next year house prices in general will be lower than they are now

#3. Cheap houses are a good thing not a bad thing

Try convincing some of the sellers of houses we have been trying to get down in price.

You would think prices were rocketing upwards the way some people have been approaching the price and possible completion dates. It's not as if buyers are queuing up.

It's certainly sorting out the serious sellers from those just playing around. Sadly we seem to be trying to negotiate with all the idiots.

I think it'll take a few months before it really sets in to these peoples' mindsets. It's a bitter pill for them to swallow that they are going to be forced to lower their asking price in order to sell. Many are clinging on to the hope that an even bigger idiot than them will come along at some point and offer what they want.

Some are already involved in a chain and are dependent on getting their full asking price. When they don't, it affects everyone.

Keeping up with the Jones's just became a very expensive hobby!!

Put one of my one bed clipper's on market on friday, just had full asking price offer.
If it goes through £45K profit for two years renting out.
Not bad little earner worth putting up with a couple of lying lazy tenants.:rotfl:
