Spending in Cyprus

Can anyone help me please. I know that people have said to get a nationwide credit card when abroad but do I get some euros or cypriot pounds to tide me over. We are going away to Cyprus on the 14th August.
Thanks

Although Cyprus is now a full member of the EU, it has not joined the Euro, like the UK. The only currency in Cyprus is the Cypriot Pound at the moment, although many places may accept Euros as payment, there is likely to be a hidden exchange rate surcharge.
