Group Stay in Amsterdam?
cowboy
I'm going to Amsterdam this coming Easter with a group of friends....11 of us. We could stay in a hostel but we were wondering whether it's cheaper or perhaps better to rent an apartment. Anyone has any experience in this? Which aparments do you recommend? Is there a search engine for apartments (just like hostelworld.com for hostels?) Please advise.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Cowboy

I'm not sure of your age, but if your young-ish or just looking for a cheap place to stay i suggest camp zeeburg, we have stayed many times although normally between may-september so not sure about easter. You can camp for around £5pppn or you can hire a cabin for £55 per night but it sleeps 6 so less than £10pppn.... alot of student/backpacker type people stay there and have open fires with songs/drink/drugs.. there is also a onsite shop, bar and hire shop http://www.campingzeeburg.nl/

gillianandterry, thanks for the recommendation but I think the rooms are fully booked already (for the period of our trip).
merlinormartin, thanks and that looks like a great idea! But I tried their online booking and I think it's also fully booked. I've emailed them though just to confirm.
Any other suggestions, please?0 -
Me and my mates have always stayed in the Hotel Acro http://www.acro-hotel.nl/
In a good location, not far from Vondel Park and the Heiniken Museum, with nice rooms.0 -
Would also highly reccommend the hostel at Vondel Park0

Flying Pig uptown is an excellent hostel, I preferred it personally to the Bulldog. Book over the phone or by email, the hostels only give a few beds to the online booking engines and prefer to handle most of them the old fashioned way. Don't worry about language, anyone answering the phone will speak perfect English!0

you could try renting a houseboat? there's a company called amsterdam house that rents appartments and houseboats, there are other companies too, maybe you should try somewhere like owners direct etc0
