    Well I managed to get the debt from £340 down to £250, If I paid it today. Which I did. It's something I guess!

    forgot to say you can register a password with the three big credit reference agencies (equifax, forget the names of the others)that way only the person with the password can apply for credit. (oh and I've remembered the address check is done on the electoral role info!).
