Windows Vista Home Basic

Hi,

Can someone who has this let me know whether it comes with Word/Excel as standard. Have looked on the microsoft website, but must be having a 'thick moment' as can't seem to find it.

Thanks

Word and Excel are a part of Office, not Windows. They don't come with any version of Windows. If you want them then you'll have to buy Something like Office 2007 for Home and Student. Or download and use OpenOffice and its equivalent applications for free.

  • It sometimes comes with works when a package deal is bought, you could always get open office http://www.openoffice.org/ Vista is an operating system as where word and excel and alike are a part of Office.

Works is a slimmed down version of the most popular MS office suite programs like Word and Excel, personally I dont like works as its doesnt have enough functions as where open office is darn good for free.

Thanks - we are upgrading our base unit, have got them on the existing one, so guess we'll be able to transfer them over to the new unit then. I misunderstood and thought it was all part of the same package.

Only if you have a cd to install them with.

Different things. Microsoft Windows is the Operating System and Microsoft Office is an office suite of applications. It's possible to buy them together as part of a PC package but they don't come as part of a single piece of software.

As for transferring your current applications, what version are they and do you have the CD to install them on the new computer?
