christmas 2008 hol

Hello, we are considering for the first time going away over Xmas and New Year. That was until I seen the prices !! We were interested in Egypt - Sharm or El Gouna. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a decent price, or make any suggestions of alternative destinations were it will be sunny and hot ........ and reasonably priced for All Inclusive....... By the way family of 4.

Thanks!!

you need to remember that places like egypt the sun sets at about 4pm and some of the pools are not heated, which you will need as even though it is warm, the wind can be cold - if it is nice and hot you want you may be best suited going further away

I would also think that for a good all inclusive to somewhere like taba or sharm for the 4 of you (as long as you are in one room) for 2 weeks will costs you at least £3000
  • Thanks £3k is a bit out of our budget, I thought about the canaries but this also looks expensive - ideally looking for around £2-2500 but I don't think I will get anything for that. Is the canaries a good choice for christmas/new year - is it well celebrated in the resorts...?

    Oooh...just the thread I wanted!

We're looking at Egypt too...the Canaries are more expensive than Egypt which is crazy IMO!

I want to know if the price is just going to keep increasing through the year, so book now for best price? Or is it likely to go down around March/April time?
Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
  • we're thinking about Egypt this year for xmas also.
For Xmas 07, we were in Gran Canaria, absolutely loved it, was about 24-30 every day, weather was fab.
For Xmas 05 & Xmas 06, we were in Lanzarote, which was brilliant also, the weather wasn't as good as Gran Canaria, but i dont think it was normally like this. Would recommend either of they places at that time of the year though.
May - Sex and the City tickets. June - £5 spar voucher, July - Sally Hansen nail shine & miracle set, mccains garden games, August - ERB Spa goody bag worth over £100

We spent xmas and new year in sharm just gone cost of 3,700 that was in the LTI GRAND AZURE HOTEL my advise DONT go to that hotel its full of Russians as is the whole of sharm at this time of year and they are the most rude people I have ever come across in my life.
It starts to get cold about 4pm every day and you DEFINATELY need a cardi in the evenings it doesnt really get hot till about 1030 - 11 in the mornings so you get about 5 hours sunshine a day yes its lovely sitting by the hotel pool as they play xmas songs but be warned they do sweet FA on xmas day itself and just put things on xmas eve mostly in russian!
new year is fantastic so long as your hotel realises the time difference and they dont tell you its new year 15 minutes before it actually is!
