Free Money Software

Does anyone know if there is any free money software hiding somewhere on the internet, along the lines of MS Money or Quicken? I used to use MS Money years ago, but can't find it, and I'm far too skint to go out and buy a new copy...

  • Thanks, that looks like just what I was looking for, I'll have a play now.
  • Another free Money Software package available is GNUCash - simply google to find download. This is open source and so free and legal.

Alternatively, if you're willing to put your information online, there are a few web applications that are getting good reviews for money management software. The main players include Wesabe and Mint - Wesabe uses a social-networking model to suggest ways to save money so is probably best for household accounts, and Mint is apparently a lot like Quicken but obviously through a web browser. I also believe Quicken has released a web version of their money software online - although you have to pay after a trial period.

If you're concerned about privacy, then I would go with either turbocash or gnucash. If you want the flexibility of having access to your accounts from any computer on the web, then maybe a web-app is a better option. Largely depends on your views on privacy and whether you trust these companies enough.
