wilkinsons have seed potatoes!!

Dont know if this hass been mentioned yet.
I found seed potatoes in wilkinsons yesterday.
Roughly £3 a bag(some a bit less) several varieties.
Aslo they have quite a lot of different onion sets for £1 a bag.
Dont think they will be there long!!

  • B&Q had some seed potatoes today albeit not very many. They were 2 bags for £5 and about 12 varieties.

    Thanks for this. Bought my onion sets and shallots this morning before they are all gone. (And some veg seeds on 3 for 2)
  • Would there be much of a return on these seed potatoes if grown in containers ?

    also poundland has arran pilot very earlies 600g Unwins for a pound! Also onion set gl;adiolas etc and quite large bags of compost (I couldn't carry one!)

    I grew poundland's arron pilots last year very successfully as a newbie. Definitely recommend as a best buy!
    Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...
  • Hiya

    The best way is to grow them is in the reuseable bags from supermarkets. Tesco are the best. To buy potatoe grow bags are approx £14. Tesco bags are £0.40. I grow all my potatoes in these bags and the returns are fantastic. I haven't bought potatoes for years.

    Just be wary of cheap seed potatoes and onions. They are not usually the best quality so yield isn't as good. Can be false economy

    In Poundland (Merseyside?) they have alpine strawberries, blackcurrants, raspberries, mixed bulbs etc, all @ £1 each. best buy was 45 gladiolli.

    Most certainly !! I used 5 large tubs last year (3 plants per tub), & had to finish up giving some away !!:j
