Twelve year old - any ideas for earning money??

Options
As it says really - It seems there isn't a lot a youngster can do to earn extra money (without it coming from the family budget;)). Does anyone have any ideas apart from having a clear out and ebaying unwanted stuff? Here's hoping.......................

I wouldn't let my daughter do a morning paper round (my son's never been well enough), but she did the local Free Press for about a year, and in the darker evenings, I went as well, with the dog. Her round took about an hour. Perhaps dog walking, as long as the dogs are of suitable size and temperament. Car washing with a friend?

  • When I was a youngster I did Newpaper rounds, helped out in a local shop, washed neighbours cars, and similar :)

Pulling weeds when the weather is better? Making cakes and sweets to sell to friends?

When I was about 13 I had morning and evening paperrounds and was earning about £25 a week.

But I think most paper rounds now require you to be at least 14. Maybe you could get one in your name for them, but go with them if its dark?

How about car washing around your estate?
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.
  • I once went around trying to wash cars.Got no jobs and ended up being chased by a pitbull terrier!

After that i bought cheap sweets from the market and sold them at school, had a turnover of £50+ a week and a profit of around £30+ a week.So thats something they could do.

Working at that age in a proper job is impossible and actually illegal. from 13 upwards they need a work permit from the local education authority and then can only work certain hours.
