If you want an Auto and a manual isn't for you then buy learn Auto only. There are plenty of people with Auto only licenses who get by just fine. Its personal preference. If you don't get on with a manual at all then at least you've had the sense to realise this, do something positive about it and move on.

Auto's can be towed, pushed whatever. They can't be jump started but in the last 10 years, 15 cars worth of motoring including old and new cars I can't remember the last time I bumped a car. You're a lady, that's what the AA are for right? (auto aid cheaper though).

Most auto cars £500 or less will be big old luxury barge's. Great buys for folks who've had licenses for years, tons of no claims and who like to waft around in early nineties luxury for pennies. Not so good when they go wrong.

Autotrader has been mentioned, search up to £500, auto's only, and go for private ad's, look for small engines also. You'll get a much better deal. Look for full MOT and tax. I found a lovely '89 1.1 Auto Fiesta for £350. Perfect. Check for rust, watch Autotrader on Sky TV. Research some more. Use the bangernomics car link etc etc. Take someone with you when you view ideally someone who knows about cars.

Auto's can be dear when they go wrong but so can manual cars. There is a argument thats says an engine tied to an auto gearbox will suffer less wear so auto's aren't all bad news.

    Good luck with your search.
