T-Mobile

Options
I don't know if this counts as 5-star service as I think it seems pretty stupid on T-Mobile's part but anyway....................

I joined T-Mobile in September 2004 from O2 and got the Sony Ericcson K700i on a contract.

I was very pleased with the phone...............but not so pleased with the coverage in my home area.

I didn't mind too much as I live in a fairly rural area AND in a small valley. I could use the phone at my place of work and most other places so I just accepted that fact.

I started a new job 2 months ago and I could not get any reception whatsoever in my office. In fact, the reception in the town I was working in was poor overall. I wasn't pleased considering this town (Livingston) is a large town in the M8 corridor and it is bustling town, not a 'backwater'.

Anyway, I emailed T-Mobile Customer Services and they said there was very little they could do about it if the phone was not faulty. Went through a series of checks with them to ensure the phone was not faulty and it wasn't.

I became increasingly frustrated with this as I wasn't receiving SMSs intermittently and emailed them again. What infuriated me this time was the almost identical response.

So, onto the Customer Services Director's Office by email. They emaile dme back immediately and said that someone would be in touch in a couple of days.

In the meantime, I took advantage of the Nokia 1100 Virgin PAYG phone from MSE. I unlocked this phone too for free.

So, out of curiosity, I put my T-Mobile SIM in the Nokia 1100. The reception was good. The K700i must have had recption issues.

The Director's Office called me - I pushed them as far as I could (politely) and they said they had no choice but to allow me to leave without paying an Early Termination Penalty (about £200 at that point).

I then mentioned to them that I happened to have put my T-Mob SIM in a Nokia and the reception had been fine.

The Director's Office seemed very keen to keep me so I said if they were willing to give me a Nokia phone equivalent to the K700i I would happily stay.

And so they ordered me a spankin new Nokia 6230i free of charge.

I also happened to mention that I had a Sony Ericcson Bluetooth Headset thay I use often but would not work with a Nokia (I don't know if this is true but I was chancing my arm). And so they credited a further £60 to my account so I could purchase a Nokia Bluetooth Headset.

And then I sold the phone on ebay - £200 thank you very much.
And I never bought the headset - £60 thank you very much.

Surely T-Mobile are out of pocket due to me???? :p

Not strictly 5 star service as such, but if they didn't go through their standard diagnostics ie. getting you to carry out a sim swap then T.B.H they deserve everything they get!! (I work for t-mobile as a technical support advisor and this is one of the first things we advise people to check when/if they have a coverage problem.)

T-Mobile gave me 5* + service,I bought a 3220 from orange and put my TMob sim in,settings were completly different,so I rang them up to help out and not only did they ring me back to get the problem sorted(I intially thought I was being fobbed off) they even asked when would be a suitable time,I sent an email praising them for the service from this operater and got a nice one back.....Been with TM for about 5 years as a payg customer(minimum spend LOL) So T-Mobile 10/10 A+ Gold award from me :o)
