Missed dental appointment and charges (child)

I suppose it depends on did the dentist lose money?
If the NHS pays £20 for doing a check-up then he can’t invoice having spent the appointment time twiddling his thumbs so it seems fair that you pay.0 -
Our dentists' reception staff have the lovely task of phoning their customers the evening before an appointment to remind them - even on Sundays & Bank Holidays......I guess it's worth the cost of the mobile phone bill & a couple of hours overtime against missed appointments.....but then again we do pay so it's all part of the service :rolleyes:2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

If you don't contact them you will not be seen again.
If you do contact them if you had already started treatment and had been quoted a price (or not if on benefits) this course of treatment will have been "closed ", so you may have to pay again to open a new course of treatment. e.g you saw the dentist had one filling and were quoted £47 for all of the rest of your treatment. If you then missed the next appointment you would pay £47 plus £47 for a new course of treatment. If you have not seen the dentist yet and appointment was just for a check up you will not be liable for charges.
You cannot in England be charged for missed appointments but if you miss any more the dentist will probably refuse to see you again. It is really important to phone if you cannot make an appointment as soon as you know you cannot make it so someone else can use the space.0
