Best way of cleaning King sized duvet goose down + feather

I am wondering on the most efficient method of cleaninng this duvet which is very warm and has had us sweating for a considerable time. It can be washed at the laundrette but I have had a quote for dry cleaning it and the costs work out similar.

If it might be a bit pongy, what do people think would be the best way of cleaning this duvet?

I've only ever hung mine out over the washing line for a good air and a blow.

I would have it washed as the fumes from Dry Cleaning would knock you out .
  • Dry cleaning will kill dust mites.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • I wouldn't risk washing it - too expensive to replace if it goes t!ts up.

Any fumes from the dry cleaning process will disappear with a good airing afterwards.

I have a goose down quilt and had it washed at the dry cleaners. They do not recommend dry cleaning, and the label confirmed it (for mine). It wasn't cheap, though: around £24, istr.

The normal airing outside wasn't an option for me as my pesky pooch had peed on it.
