Accident 14 months ago still unresolved

Options
I have a question if this is normal or not or if this is dragging on way too long.
In sept 06 I had a pang with a coach, at a roundabout where the coach behind me failed to see I had stopped and hit my car, resulting it being a write off. IMHO it was the coach drivers fault, and he even said so at the time. Now I have been paid off by my insurance company. but the issue has still not been resolved as the other insurance co has not accepted liability. The case has now been transfered to lawyers.

Anyone know how long this might go on for? If it does not go my way, what will happen to my current insurance, will they expect me to pay for cover I currently have, and backdate based on having lost my no claims discount.

I am quite miffed that it has gone on this long, and do not trust the coach company (they twice refused to give me their insurance details) so thinking they might have bent the truth

When i had an accident it took just over a year as the third party wouldnt admit liability.
Assuming you have legal aid on your policy i suggest you speak to your solicator.
Otherwise pursue your claim through the small claims court, its very unlikely you will ever actually go to court.

Refusing/not providing insurance details at an injury road traffic collision is an offence. Surely a professional company would know this.

I've seen it a lot where larger companies drag things out hoping they won't have to pay for things. Even down to the point where they have denied a vehicle has been involved in an incident (despite Police taking photographs and charging the other driver offences!!).

    Stick it out.

They're hoping you'll give in and not put up a fight.

Only if someone is injured, unless the law has changed. Tip, always state injured, you don't have to claim, but they do then have to provide details, but so do you.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • I did put 'Injury road traffic collision'.

Just presumed (dangerous thing to do!) that if a couch crashes in to the back of you and rights the car off you'd have at the least minor whiplash.
  • It took 4 years for my claim to come through after an accident on a bus!

They'll dispute it with you, hope for a 50-50 settlement and then go to small claims court. Of the one or two people I know who've gone to court to try and obtain what they believe to be a fair outcome, none have ever come out of the small claims court with a decent result.

Regarding the original prang was the roundabout empty? It's quite a common accident for a following vehicle to see a clear roundabout and assume that the vehicle in front will carry on and then hit them because they've stopped.
    Happy chappy
